Grand Canyon Caverns and other Route 66 goodies!

I missed going inside the Grand Canyon Caverns in May 2016. My visit this time was well worth the effort. I stayed in the adjoining RV park for the night and was not disappointed. A fire, a friend and a nice evening, what more can you ask for?

Perhaps a bored guide stacked these rocks!

There is a band stage and sleeping accommodations in the Cavern. $800 will gain you a nights sleep with guaranteed quiet and darkness. Well except that there is paranormal activity down here!

This huge sloth was found in the cavern. There are scratches on the wall where he was trying to depart and he lost a claw in the wall in the attempt.

I stayed in the RV park next to the Cavern entrance and gift shop. A great little park worth a stay.

These scenes of Headicus are probably the last to be seen. This building was being emptied by the owners and new occupants will soon renovate this iconic Route 66 roadside oddity/attraction.

A much earlier version of Route 66 is just off to the right of the road.
