Here for a couple of weeks to enjoy the coast and to make new friends while resting a little bit. We went to the Naked Winery and enjoyed a flight of wine tasting and walked the streets a little. There is an indoor carousal in a mall on Broadway Street.
Join us as we make a visit to Astoria and Ft Clatson where there is so much Lewis and Clark history to see.
Astoria is a city on the Columbia River, near the Pacific Ocean. The Astoria Column, a towering hilltop monument with murals depicting area history, offers panoramic views. The Columbia River Maritime Museum showcases fishing, shipping and military history in a waterfront building. Set in a Queen Anne–style Victorian mansion, Flavel House Museum features period furniture as well as manicured gardens
Fort Clatsop was the winter encampment for the Corps of Discovery from December 1805 to March 1806. The visitor center includes a replica of Fort Clatsop similar to the one built by the explorers, an interpretive center offering an exhibit hall, bookstore, and two films. The center features ranger-led programs, costumed rangers in the fort and trails, as well as restrooms and a picnic area.
